Wow, this one was a hard one for which to select the pictures to post. I took 81 pictures, anyone of which would look good in this blog. Oh yeah, what in the world was that great? It was motocross racing, known also as MX racing. The track is laid out with tight turns, lots of bumps and ruts, and bigggg hills. Motorcycles and quads race here and the real hotshots spend some of their time more than 20 feet above the track surface.
Age nor sex keeps a racer off the track. There were little tykes starting at five and oldsters to 50ish. One 50's guy was in the beginners class. Can you believe anyone would take this sport up after 50? Women were certainly in the minority, but still ably represented.
Age, experience, and motor size separate the racers into classes. The little tykes start out on 50cc bikes that sound like mosquitoes. I didn't hear of a class that had anything bigger than 450cc, but they had an awesome roar. There were pros there too, racing not for trophies, but for bucks.
A picture may be worth a thousand words, but it doesn't relate the excitement of being there in person with dare devil riders, motor noise, crowd cheering, and painfully loud rock and roll blaring over the PA system. Well, here you go, enjoy the pictures.........
More pictures are in the two issues immediately preceding this one. You can select them from the archive.
